W100

W100

In 1963, Mercedes Benz produced its most luxurious car, the W100, also known as the Mercedes 600.

So what made this Mercedes model stand out? Passionist Mr Marek Górecki answers:  "The Mercedes 600 stood out, glamour beyond measure. Everything about the vehicle was innovative and unprecedented for any Mercedes. The 600's enormous size, weight and numerous hydraulic amenities called for more power. A new V8 engine was developed that developed 250 hp (186 kW). And a complex hydraulic system powered the windows, seats, sunroof, boot lid and automatically closing car doors. Did you know that a power window separating the front seats from the rear bench seat was implemented on this model?

The adjustable air suspension provided excellent ride quality and confident handling on all surfaces. The car came in two versions - the Limousine and the extended Pullman.

Today, there are only a few of these cars left in the world, and they are valued at up to $12 million. The W100's counterparts are British and American cars such as the Rolls-Royce Bentley, Lincoln Continental and Cadillac Series 70.
